Let's face it. Many of the shrubs and plants in our parish gardens have been around longer than we have, and if it wasn't for some wonderful volunteers that have nursed them along, they would have been long gone.
Our parish deserves better. What if we had a beautiful garden on the Chapel side of the Church with an illumniated winding path from saint to saint, with places to sit among the beauty of God's creation, just to pray? Sounds nice doesn't it?
If we look to the front of the Church we see where the tree roots have lifted up the big red concrete pads to the point of creating trip hazzards. We have to fix them, but what will continue to happen? The trees will keep growing and we will have the same problem again and agian.
What if we do the same thing we did to the Chapel side of the Church to the street side, all the way to Central Ave. How beautiful that would be! A lovely garden with benches and lights, leading to the statue of our patron, St. Martin of Tours, Bishop. Wouldn't it be nice to sit under a shade tree to pray for St. Martin's intercession in our lives?
We are currently looking for a landscape architect to help us with the design. Our hope is to complete the entire project for $20,000.
If you would like to contribute to this project, please stop by the parish office and speak to our business manager, Luis Estrada, or Fr. Roberto.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!
