The Rite of Election is the second step in the Christian Initiation. With this rite we close the period of formation of the catechumens' minds and hearts. The Rite of Election also marks the beginning of the final period, more intense preparation for the sacraments of initiation, during which the elect will be encouraged to follow Christ with greater generosity.
